Why I Built the AmiWho Financial Year Journal
On July 26 we gathered a room full of business owners at The Adnate to launch something I’ve wanted to make for a long time. The AmiWho Financial Year Journal is now here, and this is the story of why it exists and who it’s for.
The Problem I’m Looking To Solve
Over years of working alongside small business owners, I noticed the same thing again and again. The people getting caught out by deadlines weren’t careless and they weren’t unskilled. They were capable, driven and stretched thin. A BAS date would sneak up in a busy week. A public holiday would shift a payroll run. An IAS deadline would land in the middle of everything else, and suddenly a good operator was scrambling.
It was never a lack of ability. It was simply that the important dates lived somewhere other than where the work happened.
The Financial Year Journal That Already Knows Your Year
So I built the fix. The AmiWho Financial Year Journal has every Australian public holiday, every BAS date and every IAS date already marked, sitting exactly where you need them. There’s nothing to set up and nothing to remember. You open it, and the year ahead is already mapped for you.
I also wanted it to be something you’d genuinely want to use. It’s finished with intricate gold detailing, gilded pages and a gold day marker. As practical as it is beautiful, and made to sit proudly on your desk rather than get shoved in a drawer.
The idea is simple. When your compliance dates are already in front of you, they stop being a source of worry and become just another part of a well-run business. That’s the freedom I want for the people I work with. Financial clarity creates room to breathe, and room to build.
More Than Dates
The journal isn’t only about deadlines. Throughout its pages you’ll find motivational quotes to keep you going, along with prompts and points to help you reflect on your business as the year unfolds. Questions that nudge you to think about what actually moved the needle this month, what’s working, and where your energy is best spent next. It’s the difference between simply recording your year and genuinely learning from it. A little encouragement and a moment to think, built into the rhythm of your everyday.
More Than A Diary
For those who want a little guidance alongside the journal, it comes in a few forms. You can buy it on its own, pair it with a one-hour consultation to map out where you’re headed, or step up to a package that includes quarterly reviews so we can keep momentum on your goals across the whole year. Whichever suits you, the journal is the anchor: your year, planned and visible from day one.
Bringing People Together
The launch itself was a reminder of why I do this. A room of business owners, real conversations, wonderful food and a lot of laughter. Days like that don’t happen alone, and I’m grateful to every collaborator and every guest who helped bring it to life.
If you’d like to bring that same sense of order and steady, clear-headed planning to your own year, the journal is ready when you are. Come and take a look, and let’s make the year ahead one where nothing slips.
